The Doll Mag Book Club: Anne of Green Gables, Chapters 19-24

1. In this section of chapters, Anne meets Diana’s Aunt Josephine. What did you think of their first encounter and eventual friendship?
This chapter was so funny!   When Aunt Josephine cried, "Merciful goodness!" I laughed out loud during reading time!   I think that a lot of people are like Aunt Josephine because they forget what it's like to be young and imaginative.   I'm glad Anne got her to see a new side of things!
2. Avonlea welcomed a new addition to their town in these chapters! What are your thoughts on the Allan’s, Anne’s cake, and Anne’s invitation to tea?
The Allan's are the picture of what you imagine a minister's family should be.   Mrs. Allan was so sweet to Anne.   I imagine that Anne must be a bit hard to be around with how much she talks, but Mrs. Allan was so gracious and loving to this odd little girl.   Again, I laughed out loud when Anne messed up the cake!   Poor Anne didn't know what to do with herself.   The tea party was very sweet.   I imagine Anne's "heart to heart" talk was more like a speech, but I'm glad Anne found someone new to talk to.
3. In these chapters, we learn about the “fashionable” hobby of daring amongst the youth of Avonlea. What do you think about Josie’s dare and Anne’s injury?
Josie was a perfect brat to dare Anne to walk the ridgepole.   Anne was being too bold, though, and practically walked herself into the whole thing.   I'm glad Anne learned a lesson, even if it was tough.   Sometimes the only thing that will get through to us is a difficult experience of our own.
4. Finally, what are your thoughts on Anne’s new teacher Miss Stacy?
Miss Stacy sounds just lovely.   She'll be much better than Mr. Phillips, for sure!   I was so glad to see him leave.   He only cared about his own welfare in working at the school (that and Prissy Andrews).   Miss Stacy was already starting to make the school a better place for the students in the first chapter she appeared!
